last week, Bronx techs voted NO to union (113 - 92) --- very difficult to organize a shop that is completely polarized (by design of course)
techs fall into one of the following categories:
1) pro-company rookie brainwashed by management to think that union is bad / continuously told never to associate themselves with any of those lazy old-timers / coddled by their supervisors / have no clue about the struggle of techs that came before them / believes most of what management tells them
2) pro-union rookie that is too afraid to publicly support it due to fear of retaliation.
3) pro-company veteran that actually thinks a union cannot do anything for them / selfish attitude / hates dues / perfectly okay with other people losing their jobs just as long as they're not affected
4) pro-union veteran not afraid to stand up on the front lines / always willing to exercise their right to organize openly / understands that company does not have their best interest and knows only solution is to vote YES to union / knows that management lies 99% of the time.
5) pro-union veteran that is too afraid to openly support due to fear of retaliation / understands the struggle but refuse the involve themselves in it / let the other guys fight it
6) bribed techs / paid off by management to spy and sabotage any union activity
7) stubborn techs / don't care about anything just as long as next week's paycheck is on point.
any suggestions on how to get these guys on the same page before Altice puts us all on the same unemployment line ?
