Thread regarding Sears layoffs

SYW is the best ever!

So I hardly ever shop at Kmart or Sears but for Christmas I decided to stop in to see what they had. What a mess, but the SYW is great and here's why. So I go into Kmart and they have a sale for buy one- get one free (BOGO). I buy a shirt which is $19.99 and I get another shirt free--good deal. Well last week I went back just to see what else was on sale but I just picked up some household stuff i.e. cleaner, dish soap etc. I get to the register and my total is $14.99 but the register person tells me I have $20 in SYW points-- so I use the points-- total paid $0.00. I go back yesterday and buy some more things i.e. papertowels, toilet paper, water etc. thinking I can just use the rest of my points. Surprise, surprise-- I have gotten $20 more dollars of surprise SYW points (Must be used by Jan. 22nd I think). Total paid yesterday $1.89, but here is where it really get great-- on some of the items that I bought I received 100% points back. So I still have $22.00 in points to use. So I have paid only $21.88 (19.99 is for one shirt where I got another one free) with paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, oil for my car, some water, cereal, some camping stove gas, and a few other things basically for free and I still have $20.00 free dollars to spend. Now i see why they are going out of business.

I don't think it is about the SYW sales as much as it is the customer information that SHC sells to other companies. I signed up with SYW under a fake name but a real email address and you should see all the offers I get from other companies with the fake name. That is how I know it was SHC selling my information because that is the only time I have used that name for anything. Try it, you;ll see what i mean

It goes to show why SHC now has gross margins lower than Walmart. They have to give stuff away just to get people in the lousy stores. Lampert figured they could eventually transition the "members" to higher profit sales. It sure hasn't happened so far. Even with all the giveaways total sales keep falling like a rock. They should just close up and get it over with.

Absolutely right. I bought Smart sense toilet paper (i don't care what i wipe my butt with), SS paper towels, SS dish soap, and SS paper plates (which in paper products SS isn't bad, the food is horrible). And I got 100% back in points (so basically free) and the other stuff that I bought I had $$ off in coupons from my last visit and then I got surprise points when I checked my email when I got home.

I guarantee you did not earn 100% back in points when you used points for the whole purchase. The promo is 100% back in points when you purchase over $10 in smart sense (which is a good deal), but you must spent out of pocket over $10 for it to work and then you will only get the 100% for what ever you spent out of pocket. You do not earn points on the portion of the purchase you redeemed points on. If you received surprise points that is something else entirely

It's sad but I ALWAYS check sell by dates at Kmart. I have come across some really expired food! Every once in awhile when someone complains we have someone go through to check, they usually finish with carts and carts full of expired food

You should really check the sell by dates on any food items you picked up. Most stores still have items on the shelves that expired in 2015.

Sounds like the program is a success. You are slowly hauling off their garbage without the need to pay a solid waste contractor.

Hopefully that cereal wasn't under one of the moldy ceiling tiles.
