If they keep the cable plant they will need you guys to chase noise all day. Fiber to the home is a different story, they can cut a lot of the workforce. So what you are saying makes no sense
Everyone pro and anti- union look up WHY DID GOOGLE STOP THE FIBER BUILD. A few Interesting points.

I heard there's going to be a meeting tomorrow at the Bethpage Warehouse in Long Island does anyone have any information on this? There's talks of a new company wanting to outsource.

No to ATS is a must if no union. You are quiting your current job to work for a new company. In 2018 they will strip all your benefits because your a contractor. You must unionize to keep your benefits and pay at either company.
No one cares they just want to work, and hope your wrong.
