Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Corporate Layoffs

Has anyone heard when the next round of corporate layoffs will take affect? All we are hearing about is the customer facing employees moving to ATS. What about corporate? I know its coming just don't know when.

Except for how to correctly punctuate a sentence. Use one period at the conclusion - not threee.

I would have no interest in U of Phoenix. That isn't a real college and it would make no sense for me to go there for a graduate degree since my Bachelors degree is from a well known University. Playing devils advocate doesn't serve to do much on a board like this. It doesn't make your look smart and you don't know what department I work in or my schedule so how would you know what I can or can't do?

Reimbursement should have nothing to do with your review. No idea where you got that info from. All you do is submit it for approval, take the class and get a C or better then submit the paperwork to your manager and get reimbursed. I think you're allowed $5500 a year unless it changed. Also your hours of work should have no effect if you do a degree at like university of Phoenix. Again, it depends on how badly you want it. I finished my bachelors with a newborn and a hefty mortgage.

If you really wanted a degree you can make it happen. Put 5 grand on a 0% interest credit card and get reimbursed in 4 months?

The tuition reimbursement program that was in place (and I have a hard time believing that it hasn't been axed yet) was a bit of a scam. Cablevision used to use it as a tactic during the hiring process to make the benefits look better than they really were. They gave a figure in the ballpark of $7,500 per year IF you got a 4 or a 5 on your review. So, if you go back to school and HR, management etc will obviously know about it and be in cahoots with each other, you can guarantee you'll get a review that won't meet the requirements so they don't have to pay you. This is all after you find out that there are classes you'll need to take that are given at times you won't be able to make due to the stupid hours and shifts we are made to work. Not to mention on call. I've tried going to graduate school twice since working here and came to the realization that it's almost impossible. After all, the new owner wants the remaining employees to be stupid people anyway since they're more likely to believe all the lies.

Key word. Reimbursement. Some of us have children who are ready to start going to college and we're saving up for them. Like I said some of us aren't in our 20's and have responsibilities that go beyond will I have party money this weekend.

Bottom line altice does not like to pay salaries, that article says it all.

The last package that was sent was to middle management, safety, field sups isp sups with time they offered ats to sups that make less money.

Plain and simple altice does not want to pay, they want all the profit every single dime.

You're the a--. Corporate employees so called have higher education which supposedly makes them more marketable. They will find jobs. How about the people in the call centers or the ones on the poles. Some of them been with the company over 10 years and don't have a post high school education and can't afford to get one. So no, we don't feel sorry for you corporate smucks who look down upon us. We may not have degrees but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have options. Without the bottom there is no top. Remember that.

You're an a--. This site is not just about you techs. There have been many many people who work in other departments that have Actually lost their jobs. And there are still more that will.

Take your union nonsense somewhere else. You have a job. You're being offered another job in ATS. Most others do not have the same luxury that you are too blind to see. Their are no bonuses being given out based on your vote. Most supervisors and managers are being let go no matter what happens to you. Grow up.

More Corporate lay offs and firings will happen if more shops unionize thats they these higher ups are scared thats also why they are fighting this soo hard.

And if they get the shops to vote no to the union, they get bonuses.

Why should they get bonuses when they took away ours!

Vote yes!
