Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Food for thought..

Why doesn't everyone just OPT to stay with Altice USA? If every single "technician" when given the option declines the ATS offer then what? They are going to fire every single individual after five years? Who is going to build the new plant? Who is going to maintain it? Basically you would be slapping them right back in the face because they are the ones who are going to have to resort to contracting and spending more money which is what they are avoiding at all cost. This can buy every individual time to see Altice's true colors. But know if you resort to this option, you have more to lose for bargaining.. just a thought... Throw your cards in now and vote a union in so you have a say... (not only against your company, but also your backstabbing supervisors and management who clearly seem to be cloaking themselves on these forums) OR you can sit back and hold until their next move. Your already losing at a fast paced game of poker.

They're billionaires! Union is not to hurt the company but treat us with respect. They said wait ... we did and lost! Wait again for ATS... don't think so!!

Agreed. I dont understand how non-union individuals can possibly value this new company. They have basically stripped you all of the essential benefits that kept everyone from banging their heads at the end of the day from a rough day at work. Now you'll have no choice but to go home and bang your heads on the wall in addition to paying for service YOU work hard ON, increases in healthcare, minimal yearly increases, and or deductions in pay. Vote yes and have a say in your work place !!

I agree but in all reality once a shop is union no matter what union they may be under they will always support and have each other backs. It's just easier under one umbrella but it will still work just a bit more complicated

Forget forming one shop at a time lets cooridinate as one unit and unite as a whole and go that way. It would take time and hard work but it could be done. One Union one voice. Don't mix and match!

Yeah, so all the techs that said NO to the unions are supervisors. If you don't hear your same point of view, you are hearing from management because 100% of the employees are pro-union. Keep looking for ways to sabotage work, but everyone will make a decision of their own, that only affects them and their families.

I dont think it matters at this point, either option plays into their hand. If the goal is to shed employees nothing prevents them from doing so whether you stay or go. I believe it to be just a little neater if you leave to go to ATS but in the end does that really matter if you are one of the ones they actually got rid of.
