in focal process, which is nowhere to be seen now that already into the first week of this year. Can any current employee or HR shed some light on it?

If you get an SL4 then you're basically out. And there will be a certain distribution of SL4s to allocate. So your manager can give you a satisfactory grade and low stock allocation and basically fire you. There should be zero confusion this year...
Agree that if you get S+SSL4 or worse then you're in trouble. But untaken VSP's are most likely safe. Best odds is they get another VSP, along with people having X years in grade with nothing above an S.
Getting an S+SSL3 or better any number of years in a row will never result in an ISP, only a VSP (barring really bad conditions)
The release of the new FOCAL is late. Like everything at Intel.
OP here,
@Lc2rBsd-mug Will mandatory quarterly focal come with a pay change either + or - ?
@Lc2rBsd-rny TIG does seem logical, but cant say if Intel will actually be willing to move people upwards grade-wise very frequently.
@yet - They have to tighten the criteria each year as the pool of potential victims gets smaller. So I believe that the criteria for last year's VSP will probably put you in ISP territory this year, and the new VSP criteria might be based on time in grade, regardless of stock level. If TIG > (grade level # in years) you will probably be offered VSP.
The new Focal has already been described to us FLMs by HR. It's basically tighter micromanagement. The optional quarterly iMBOs are now replaced by mandatory quarterly Focals.
And by the way, tpj below is full of sh--.
Intel Copy Exact applies for this year's Vsp/Isp/ERP. Same criteria. It has worked well for Intel the last 2 years, why not do it again?
How is the first one not possible? What part doesn't feel possible to you? Maybe if tpj said SSL4/5 FOR 2016? Would that make more sense to you? If I'm way off base, what exactly is it about the first one is puzzling you?
@Lc2rBsd-tpj: how is the first one possible?
2017 Focal guidelines:
-
SSL4/SSL5 in 2016 or unaccepted 2016 VSP will be fired on the spot with 2months pkg.
-
4 consecutive SSL3 with no EE or O rating in those 4 years (2013-2016) will be ISP'd with 2months + LOS pkg.
This should cast a net on the lower 15-20% performers.
I hear that BK said that the Focal process will be the same for the whole year meaning that if the process wasn't announced by Jan 1st, HR will have another year to iterate it.
