Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

A message to Bronx Technicians

Your Election tomorrow to vote CWA as your representation is very important all of us throughout the footprint. Please do not give into the a fallacy, just remember what they took away in less than 6 months. They told us that the Dolan's spoiled us.Do you think this will end up ok?Just ask the Shelton call center that was told they were better off without a Union during the transition. Please remind your selves of these words when they try to brainwash you; I WILL NOT FALTER AND I WILL NOT FAIL.And Godspeed to you all!!!

Remember one thing the HR department is only there to protect the company and their management. I'd rather have a union representing me for 2 cents on a dollar then take my chances alone when I might be questioned for anything...wake up

Delusional? How is the union gonna protect your jobs? Get educated. If Altice wants to eliminate the position of field tech, like they said they would do in 5 years, then you're all gone. Union or no. They can contract out our whole footprint to ATS. You dummies think paying dues and freezing my pay for years is gonna protect my job. Good luck. Go vote yes. I'll be doing your job in the future.

Vote YES YOU HAVE EVERYTHING TO LOSE LIKE YOUR JOB....IF YOU DONT FIGHT FOR YOUR JOB AND VOTE YES ALTICE WILL NOT GUARANTEE ANYTHING IN WRITING... Don't let your bosses get a big fat raise if the union vote goes down. F--K them

All Bronx techs vote yes and let's take control over our own destiny. Don't have faith in a company that just wants to make constant cuts. Holiday bonus cut, catv will be cut,10% salary reduction. It's not about who is lazy or not. It is about keeping a good paying job that you enjoy . The cable service alone is about the cost of the union dues. Don't be foolish and be united and stand together.

"And i don't need a rep for grievance procedures. I just do my job right, no problems" <---- Clearly, you have absolutely no idea what's been going on throughout this company.

Don' t worry though... Altice will soon pop that bubble of denial you been working in.

A seat at the table? We don't get anything. The union gets a seat and we get whatever they can. And you're right, it's going to be less than I have now. And i don't need a rep for grievance procedures. I just do my job right, no problems. And ask the Brooklyn techs who were union and got fired. It's not job protection, you still get fired for being bad at your job. CWA can't get me anything I can't get for myself. Don't buy the hype. And the managers are more worried than I am about jobs. I'm locked in for another 3 years, half of them will be gone in months.

"Be smart. Don't pay for something that isn't guaranteed" <---- Voting YES would've guaranteed a seat at the table.

wonder what will happen to Piscataway when the rest of the footprint is unionized and you're the ones left alone on an island.

I don't like unions. I just don't. That union was your last best hope. Altice is a miser and cable is dying. You should have tried it. Now you'll just be whittled away until you're dismissed. Terrible. Stupid. Weak. Good luck.

The company always uses strikes...dues...and brooklyns contract as ammunition.

Heres some info for you to digest...

Union dues are like 2%...that's 2 bucks per every hundred you make...thats a small price to pay for nlrb backed representation...thats like having a lawyer for 2 cents on the dollar...yeah we will be sooo crippled having to pay that...you spend more than that at burger king in one sitting. And dues dont increase unless UNION MEMBERS vote on it.

Nobody likes strikes...we dont...neither does the company...we dont want to be out there holding signs and bashing the company and neither does the company...the company loses money..service and reliability goes down ( and even if they got managers, sups, and contractor's to do it while we are striking..they still wouldnt get the quality that we do...especially with contractors..they want to rush and go..at every job..cause they get paid per job...and customers hate non corporate employees...plus if customers see us striking..the company loses money because striking employees tells the public that the company is treating them unfair and they cancel their service..they dont want to support a company thats mistreating the employees.

Brooklyns contract is what is right now because they were the only ones brave enough to win representation and they did it alone..the didnt falter to management's grass will be greener on the other side rhetoric...and they agreed with the best contract they could at the time with the bargaining unit they had...if more shops were union..it would mean more power in numbers..the contract would be better...its not a bad contract..but could be better..and will be when they go for another especially if more shops are unionized...and they lost the sick days because of the "me too" clause..they lost out on those things because of slash and cut altice...when it was cablevision...they had everything we had...minus a few perks here and there..but most of all they had more security, successor clauses and grievance procedures...which we dont have because we are "at will " employees...which means we have nothing in writing back by the nlrb...we have "altices writing" which doesnt mean sh-- because they can change anything at any time they choose...you are at their disposal...your company handbook even says" we deserve the right to end your employment at any time" and you cant say sh-- about it.

Altice has taken away so much in just the short time they've owned us...and its not going to stop...the managment gets bonuses for stopping the union from getting in...why should they gain even more and us lose even more...we've given cablevision a shot after voting down the union...things got good..then worse..etc...when altice took over...things just went down hill...and now they are telling us everything is going to be great..theres going to be soo much work..etc...yeah for who...management? Contractor's? They were already on a firing spree and wanting our senior techs out with separation packages...i feel we need to give the union a shot...so we can have a seat at the table and just deal with what they give us. Many of us have worked hard for years to have what we have...and we need to keep what we have and after WE BECOME UNIONIZED we can negotiate for better and more...and the company can do that...hundreds of other companys do...and they can too...they just want to make the unionization of us look bad and the union look bad...we went to the union...they didnt come to us...so its up to us to unionize...the company knows we stand more to gain and they stand more to lose...especially more control over us..we are proud workers...we're not just numbers or robots.

Union dues are a tax write off.Id rather have someone (a lawyer)than Human Resources. We all know how that faired out...

Loss of sick time, holiday time,no more sick and personal payout,no more holiday bonus, very little overtime.I may have missed out of a lot of points besides this.

The point being we were selfish greedy children according to altice. So why should we not go with a union to protect us (tax write off) to protect our interest not theirs?Do they have contracts? Why not us?Bronx techs we are with you please do right so all of us can follow suit.Brooklyn lost nothing, only gained...Please ask them...Please vote yes...

Last I checked I just paid $1632 for 3 sick days and 1 holiday. Union dues would have been cheaper. Add on health care, reduced ot, and free cable. I won't be out of the red for another couple of years.
