BKMs are probably the biggest BS term often used at Intel. I have never worked for a company that throws around this "Best Known Method" as just code for "that's how we have always done it."

Exactly.
Agreed. This comes from TMG's "Copy Exactly" and micro-management mentality which does nothing more than stifle innovation in most other groups beyond manufacturing.
It is no wonder Intel is suffering since BK and his cronies are huge fans of this type of management.
