I worked there for several years, and still have contacts. I left voluntarily, and work at a bigger, better, and more-fast paced company now and for much more money. The problem is they recruit B talent, have horrible performance management, accept mediocrity, and the senior leadership are bean counters. No empowerment of talent, and good people go to competitors. In addition, in the creative and marketing areas, there are a lot of old g-- guys who hate women. I'm a man, my best friend of 20 years is g--, so I am not g-- bashing -- I am, however, calling out an issue in senior leadership at Herman Miller. The CEO, COO, HR, and heads of Marketing and Creative are blocks to the organization. The best that could happen would be to get a new CEO, and decimate the leadership team and bring in new talent, or promote high performers who understand the industry, and then create a competitive culture that does not exist now.
