There is No credibility to this rumour. Tata can barely make code changes without screwing up entire application deployments. It would be hilarious if it was in a Dilbert cartoon. Not so hilarious when these idiots threaten patients at customer sites with their cluelessness.

HISTALK2 rumor post 02/29/2017:

From Craptastic: “Re: McKesson’s EIS division. The likely buyer is India-based Tata Consultancy Services. They are conducting web-based video sessions between Charlotte and Mumbai. The EIS division contains dead or dying products like Star, Series, and HealthQuest, so the main target is Paragon, which was hot in small hospitals years ago, chilled down by trying to replace Horizon, then cold as hell once the divestiture rumors started.” Unverified. Publicly traded Tata Consultancy Services, part of the Tata Group conglomerate that manufactures everything from Tetley tea to Jaguars, is perhaps best known in health IT circles for being hit with a $940 million judgment in a trade secrets lawsuit brought against it by Epic.

So many people here (on this board / thread) think others posting messages know something. Remember, 99% of the folks here who know something are just trolls. (Any of us could go to the IBM, Microsoft, etc. areas of this site and post any made-up lie we wanted. Keep that in mind.)

The exceptions: the posts about how EIS is run (management, MIPS, UA - Useless Agile, etc.) are certainly on the money about those things. And the folks who know that aren't privy to layoff rumors.

"Find a new job or quit b--ching" - We have no choice other than to find a new job.

"because if you were to be missed, you'd instead be a much happier recipient of a retention bonus". The people that decided who stays or goes have no idea who we are or how well we perform. The decision was solely based on who was working on what product.

@LYopkXL-2cjs: I didn't see any post that indicated that someone was angry. Though the 'strateegerie' post should make anyone with a basic sense of ethics angry.

You are (conveniently) ignoring the fact that EIS has always been a boys club and the pets groomed to snitch on their co-workers are always looked after at review time by giving them the bulk of the raise pool. The internal corruption is well known.

Your suggestion to contact HR is amusing, particularly since it sees plenty of regular turnover itself. You should understand that no one is immune from being laid off, no one. We are all expendable.

Someone seems to have hit an HR nerve! LOL.

McKesson HR only knows how to hand out severance packages, and in many instances, they don't do that well. I remember a manager had to lay off people from her staff, and then HR axed that manager after she was done telling her staff to go. Nice!

Anyone should know that it is useless to complain to McKesson HR about anything, because they will hold that against you in the long run.

HR lady/man: Quit complaining about employees telling the truth about the ruthless layoffs McKesson dishes out year after year after year after year.

If you don't like the truth, maybe you should look for another position where your skills may become of value to another company. Oh wait. All you know how to do is lay people off at the direction of your senior leaders. Keep up the good work.

If you're so angry, then leave. Please. You know how to get in touch with HR to give them your two weeks notice, because you obviously whine to them all the time anyways. Good luck in your next job. (Wait, do you have any relevant skills other than complaining?)

P.S. - you won't be missed (because if you were to be missed, you'd instead be a much happier recipient of a retention bonus)

P.P.S. - b/c you did such a good job of training your replacements

The EIS Strateegerie: It's all about the MIPS

1) Give layoff notices to large numbers of long-term employees who have built your products over the last fifteen-plus years

2) Hire hundreds of Indians, offshore and onshore, and transfer knowledge from the formerly dedicated employees to their replacements

3) Hire middle managers and 'senior scrum masters' who have zero experience in developing software of any kind, let alone software as complex as a mature HIS

4) Distribute 40% retention bonuses to a select few of the remainders to ensure that some of your knowledge base is available for the next fiscal year

5) Lie to your customers (who should know better by this time) and spin tales of how ah-may-zing the product will be in the next release, due out any day now

6) Collect MIPS and bank a whole bunch of cash or go to Ireland or buy that new property on Lake Norman

7) Continue raving about Agile and how much better the processes are now

8) Go back to #1 at the start of the next fiscal year and repeat

If you are in EIS, or work for any division of McKesson, consider yourself a candidate for Layoff. That is all this company knows, and history is proof. McKesson wants to be a leader so bad in healthcare software development, but that ain't happening. Customers know it, and don't want it. The competition is willfully accepting the flood of customers coming their way.

Do you think there will be additional layoffs, above the ones that were offered packages to stay until 3/31?
