Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Cabelas in Hamburg virtually empty of employees but not shoppers

Family just got back from an excursion to Cabelas in Hamburg, Pa, once their showcase store back in the early 2003 era. Reported virtually no one manning the registers, only one greeter to be seen in whole store, and overall visible employee density comparable to WalMart. And this is a big shopping day. Customers walking out and leaving unbought merchandise due to lack of employees at registers.

Your managers are the schedulers in the stores. Corporate gives each store a scheduling budget. It's based on sales. The scheduler receives the schedule from the managers. Then it's compared to the budget. The schedule is then returned to the managers for budget cuts. If after the managers edits, it still isn't within the slotted budget, the Seniors cut more. All the schedulers do is collect the schedules, make edits, and post it. If you want to call anyone a n idiot, it's Corporate for basing the current schedule on the sales from a year ago.

The stores look atrocious the employees unengaged. The senior execs are completely out of touch and are not users. It is a Wal mart

What do you expect? CAB's chief administrative officer is a Wal-mart reject.
