Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Staples hits a new low

Staples is now finding new lows. Firing people before bonuses are due mid March and not giving severance. Such a toxic and cheap company. I suppose that $250 million they paid in the failed Office Depot merger had to come from somewhere. This company has been dying for 15 years. Shira's 2020 plan is to either bankrupt or fire the whole company to profitability. She is in over her head.

In addition, in Massachusetts, if your employer terminates your employment to cheat you out of commissions that are expected to become due soon you have a legal right to that bonus or commission. Legal action should be pursued.

The problem with working at Staples is that you expect it to be a professional company. If you have worked anywhere else you will see this is not the case. The longer it is in business the less professional it becomes. If you are used to working in a reputable, professional environment Staples is not for you!

What has FM done in his career? Has he outsourced everything before and the company was profitable? I have not seen that in his online propaganda.

It makes me sick when I hear FM will be outsourcing GT. Whenever this was asked at quarterly meeting we we assured that Staples is doing just the opposite bringing more work back.

He is clueless in the complexity of these systems and how much knowledge is in people heads. This will truly tank Staples.

Per the associate handbook, anyone employed by 1/31/17 gets their 2016 bonus regardless of date of payout

The Geekwire article was from 2014. Has Staples put a dent in Amazon since then? Staples is drowning. Talent is leaving. Morale is down.

I wonder if the board knows? Maybe some of the termed employees should let them know.

I am still at Staples for now. All the big wigs are in closed door meeting with IBM. Rumor has it FM is outsourcing almost everything. That way the SVP and C levels can get their bonuses. All this hard work and this is how I am repaid. Some say we may be allowed to contract with whoever gets the deal but they won't take everyone. This is the worst company. The stock is almost useless and bonus is pretty nonexistent. Why don't the employees who were let go talk to the Globe. I know there is dirt on FM.
