The person who wrote the original thread, is exactly right. Yes it sounds like he doesn't work for Staples, but being he knows other Staples GM's I assume he used too and is still in contact with some. We all know Staples is in trouble, I myself have seen the stress trickled down the latter to the GM of the retail stores. I know of two (2) personally that are now taking depression medicine,is it a joking matter. You have stress up and down this Co. causing depression, divorces etc.
That's all for what? Staples to stay open for one extra day? It's truly sad that this company went from greatness in the early 2000's to this in all of 15 years. I was a GM up to a year and a half ago, what did it leave me with? A decent 401(k), my stock s---ed, A divorce, my kids don't have much of a relationship with me. Drinking issues when I never took a single drink before I was employed at Staples and now I am on three years of depression medicine (Prozac) all my time with Staples I averaged 76 hours a week and part of that was due to my DM and RVP never helping me to try and get an assistant. I was put on a final, for having my tech lead close to days a week so I didn't have to close every single day. The one day I decided to come in at 645 instead of 615 just so I can try to get 30 extra minutes of sleep. The store doesn't open till 8am. I worked 17 hours a day before, I was threatened to be fired because my DM was outside the door for two minutes. I called him and text him what I was doing the night before but he decides to turn off his phone every night. this company is so incredibly bad. Get out while you still have a chance
