Does Enbridge still have PTO days which include vacation and sick days combined?
What is an SDO day? I heard Enbridge works 1/2 days every Friday so I wasn't sure what an SDO day is?
With SDO days, how many hours per day do they work? Spectra has 9/80's so we work 10 hour days except Friday which is an 8 hour day then we get every other Friday off.
The SDO's will probably be kept since Canada has had them for a long time. These just started in the Houston office in Jan. 2017 and it's nice to get a day off each month. They can be split in 1/2 days if you don't want to take the whole day. It consists of 8 hrs. only. They don't carry over so you lose it if u don't take it.
On the sick days, you can take up to 3 days and it is coded as short term disability. Your supervisor can ask you for a Dr's excuse if they want to. After 3 days, if you're still sick, you will need to fill out paperwork for short term disability according to your years of service. There's not an elimination period.
Recently the Houston office changed to sick days being classified as short term disability. Up to some super high limit that you'll only hit with pregnancy or life changing illness, no PTO for sick days.
Houston Enbridge doesn't have 9/80s anymore.
SDO = scheduled day off which is actually a nice benefit. 1 day per month (use it or lose it) on top of a regular vacation. You think they'll keep it?
