My DM is threatening to fire managers and tech sups over not selling liquid armour and wants the GM's and SM's to start writing up cashiers and techs for not getting a minimum of 4 square trades a shift. Is this legal?

What happened to it's not about the results it's about the behavior? Always new that was a load of crap!
If Staples wants people that can sell they need to start offering cash COMMISIONS, not damn Star Points.

Liquid Armor is CRAP!!!! Putting this much focus on one item is just plain bad business.
So Staples is going to FIRE people that may otherwise be great employees because they can't / won't
sell Liquid Armor? Foolishness. Any DM that does so needs their butt kicked and slapped to their senses.
It used to be as long as associates were offering the items and following sales behaviors they were not responsible for (wise) customers saying "NO!".
But Staples is also shady - They won't fire people for this - they'd have to pay unemployment. They will term managers for poor performance and fight unemployment, or just harass them until they quit. (which is my theory about the push on LA - they WANT people to quit over it or hold poor sales over their heads and fire them for performance, and contest UI) Part timers will be given 4 hours a week until they quit.
This company is a toxic and unethical nightmare. A van full of traveling kids hawing fake magazine subscriptions have more ethics than Staples (Watch the movie - American Honey - if you do not understand the reference)
Yes as a sales manager, I was intructed to do this exact method. I'm so sick and tired of the way Staples wants to conduct this business, you know what.....this is no joke, I'm writing this as a walk to the managers office to turn in my keys. I hate Staples retail, My kids hate me. I'm quitting, I'm done....keys left in the managers office when the gm comes back from lunch he can see my keys. I'm blocking his cellphone number and the work number. Its time I get my family back, I'll find a new job fast. I'm out Peeps. Family put second for the last time
