Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

This is set to happen on Wed, March 15th. Actual cuts won't be as high as stated earlier in the post though.

is there any validity to this 'rumor' that has everybody all excited and upset, concerning these so called impending massive layoffs at Cabelas that has everybody taking about?

Yes yes yes keep those rumors hopping about the lay off. Everybody knows that when the deal falls through Cabela's will return to a private venture,. Everybody who left will come back all the small businesses will return to the area and things will be better than before,. This is just Cabela's going through growing pains. You will see.

More than likely small minds and big mouths with nothing better to do that stir up the populace with idol rumors.

If there are layoffs I will be very surprised.

I don't know who is spreading this rumor -so I don't know who the disengaged employee . It is going around town again. I also heard it last year. Alternative facts or fake news.

Be very careful and prepared - the company has mounting debt, the bass Pro deal is in jeopardy and sales are not good - who would have ever thought that creative would have been sold out and fired? Tommy and his crew are only interested in their fortunes and nothing is sacred, not even the cabelas name. Simply be careful and prepared

I was also wondering where you heard the rumor about the DC. I am a employee at the DC and I was asked by a laid off security guard who works at Walmart if the DC has closed up. I was asked my a fired ex employee of the DC if the DC is still open. I myself as an employee of the DC I am more confident that the DC will be open for the foreseeable future then I have been for almost a year and a half. The DC has been making changes in regard to production and safety which are long term and would indicate a long term commitment . Is your source a fired or laid off ex employee of Cabelas by any chance?

Not a single layoff that came before had a "source". Everyone in creative called "show us your source" "they'll never sell to quad". Yeah...right....I've never seen so many people in La La Land.

You people that don't think they would layoff 15% clearly don't remember when they walked the entire creative department out the doors. What was that? Almost 120 people lost there jobs? What was it a few weeks before that? Almost 70 people that got walked out the door? But you're right. They wouldn't dare cut anymore of you loose would they? I understand most of you have houses and kids that rely on this job, but for gods sake, wake up. This company hasn't given a sh-- about you and won't. You're all dead men walking. How is company moral up there?

I trust them 110%. CAB wouldn't think of laying people off. Their debts are all forgiven. ..thats what my manager said. And I believe them. I thought Tommy said we didn't have to worry. Quit being paranoid people

what are you folks talking about, my manager told me we are ALL secure. we have a golden opportunity here. CAB leadership has a plan and we're all part of it. heck my man tommy was buying the house rounds over at the buff tonight and hooting it up. it's all good.

The ship is sinking fast.....not sure the stock can recover especially since earnings won't come for 2 more days....I would tell you all to grab a life ring..........but since we are so poorly stocked in the Marine Department there aren't any ....hope you can tread water...........

In my corporate office we're down 8 people who have quit and aren't allowed to hire to replace them. It's good to hear they're hiring some places but fwiw, I have heard his rumor too. Word for word.

Maybe laying off because of low Q4 earnings. Sounds about right.

Why cite sources at this point? It may just have been a secluded meeting that a few know about or even a hearsay on retail's end. Let's wait this out and see if it has come to fruition
