Some of the DM's and GM's are cheaters in this region, it's sad that myself as a sales associate at the time. I used to always hear the GM and DM talk about ways to cheat. It's clearly a company on the decline. I was a sales associate for about two years when I was attending a community college. The sales manager at the time when I was there was truly a cool dude, he was constantly told by his GM to find ways to cheat. That his job was on the line if he didn't. I had much respect for that sales manager. He used to always say, then fire me I'm not a cheater. I remember the GM and DM using the ad prep coupons to take dollars off laptop sales, so they could capitalize and getting a big Market Basket. Using the same at prep coupons to take money off Square trade. When laptops would come in for repair they used to sell it under a square trade plan, something called a zero balance. I didn't know much about that but I know they only use to scan a quarter of the store. All when this was happening my sales manager went to LP, nothing was done and they were scrutinizing him to try to get the sales manager fired. They didn't appreciate the sales manager telling on the GM and DM. It was easy to make the sales managers life hell being the LP and DM were good friends. They moved the sales manager out of the store to another store and I never saw him again, I really hope he moved on to something much better. Such a kind hearted good manager, he deserved much more than the hand that was given to him. Leave Staples, Just shop Amazon.com

I know of a store in region 8 that is returning old oms orders to cash cards and then selling la and square trade plans. The dm knows but she doesn't care. It is making her look good but making the rest of the stores look bad. It is sad how desperate these gms have gotten. Buying la out of their own pockets just to keep their jobs awhile longer. Staples you are not Best Buy. You are a office supply store. Start acting like it before you completely lose all your business to Amazon.
Anyone still working on the retail side of the business is a fool. It is only a matter of time before most of you are let go.
I'm lost as to why you even started this thread, if you're blaming the DM's why does it seem like you're trying to get the GM's fired. The GM's are doing what they're told right? Look,I don't know if Region 9 is doing things by the book or not. But it sounds like you want Staples corporate to read this thread to crack down on the GM's. But you can't put blame solely on GM's. It's clear as day we all know Staples is in a lot of world of hurt. It's from the top down, I just don't think it's right you singling out GM's.
I'm a GM for Staples, all I want to say is Yes your comments are true. But what are we to do when we have no staff in our stores to stock the floors. I spend half my shift downstocking, I work 12 hours a day and I can't even take my lunch. I'm just trying to survive, I have no support from my DM. I wish the DM, RVP and the CEO would work as a GM in a Staples store for one week. I'm talking about a store with an average of 300 hours in payroll every week with about 15 employees. My full time employees take up 200 hours. So I have about 100 hours that I absolutely could never go over for another 10 associates. These 10 associates make about $9-10 an hour. After taxes these guys at best at making $70-80 a paycheck. You tell me why anyone would work for Staples. I'm just grateful that my part-timers haven't quit, if that was me I would've a long time ago. I have a interview this coming Monday, hopefully it goes well. A one way ticket out of retail, But to follow up on what you stated in previous posts. Yes we cheat, we all due to some degree. Personally I'm not proud of it, but I'm that desperate to have a paycheck until I can get out of there.
most people at large companies are liars and cheaters, even if they can't admit it to themselves. it's a sad state of affairs. This is the future that y'all chose for your children.
That's who we learned our cheating tactics from, everyone knows that district 93 and 94 cheated. I never worked in those districts, but I do you work at a neighboring district. I used to laugh when I would hear those districts were supposedly the best at everything, it was beyond obvious what they were doing. I'm actually turning in my two weeks notice tomorrow, I absolutely hate working for this company. I dread waking up going to school and after class coming to this hell hole. I think I'll get more satisfaction and appreciation working at McDonald's.
I totally believe it, I have worked in district 93 and 94 for awhile now. I don't want to give away who I am, but my GM has always cheated. He doesn't like to but when you worked for the former DM's RB and MG, they made it hard to do anything ethically. Retail is BAD...no one wants to shop Staples, you get everything at Staples with a click of a button on Amazon.com on the same day if you order before noon (12:00PM) I know our numbers are flawed and that won't change. To have your higher up management off your back for more then 10 minutes out of the day. You have to cheap, that won't change. We don't like it, but we are fighting another day to keep a job. While at the same time try to get the heck out of there. Staples is bad, we all know it.
