Can you extend unemployment?

I was laid off by Cameron Drilling in June 2016. I’ve sent out so many resumes all over the country and had a few interviews but I think my age is hurting me. I'm 45 years old.

My unemployment has run out and I am two weeks away from being homeless. Does anyone know if there Is any way to extend my unemployment benefits? I’ve tried talking to counselors and they haven’t been any help. I’ve sold off everything that I could and now am at the point where I don’t know where to turn. My three kids are hungry and want to know why Daddy is always in a bad mood.

I appreciate any advice or encouragement that anyone can offer. Thanks in advance.

I too was laid off by Cameron, but in 2015 at the onset of the downturn. I was very lucky to find something quickly, because I sent e-mails to all my contacts asking if they knew of anything. I got involved in groups on Linked in and found headhunters to talk to personally online. You didn't mention what your line of work is, if you can make another post telling us what you do, possibly we can help feed you with some potential contacts. This is a tough test...you'll get through it, I promise. Think positive, YOU are strong, YOU were a Cameron employee which speaks volumes and YOU will thrive.
