What do we know about this so far. Disclaimer: I am not an employee, just curious.

Defraud or Devoid would have been more accurate.
They can change the name 10 times. If the mismanagement continues, the end result stays the same. Failure.
Did any colleague even come up with this crazy name? Doubtful.
They actually had a contest asking the employees for suggestions. Winning name would receive $5,000!
DVU and Carrington are likely worth little to negative value, there probably is no buyer and that would require Dept of Education approval. A teach-out would take time, and Lisa was bullish on both schools on the call.
@LEjjw9d-6vdf, either you and I work at the same campus, or great minds think alike. This is the exact same conclusion that my coworkers reached when the rebranding was announced. We don't expect DVU to be around for long once the parent company drops the DeVry name.
It could be so that they can have the overall company not associated with DeVry University. My guess is a spin-off, closure, or selling of DVU...or at least giving them an easier option to do so in the future without confusing the market with a company name that's no longer associated with the university name.
I want that money. They have screwed me over monetarily for years now.
The name change is a last ditch effort to fake out potential students before the company goes under. Once the name is changed the company will continue defrauding students and furthering the company culture of lies, abuse, and mistreatment of employees. It is putting lipstick on a pig. http://www.neatorama.com/2009/09/10/companies-renamed-to-hide-from-bad-reputations/
Thank you @1wxr
It's DeVry Education Group that is being rebranded, not DeVry University. After today's earnings call, it looks unlikely that the university will be around long enough to go through a name change, but DEG will be around until the last inevitable failure of its esteemed institutions.
DeFraud was a suggestion earlier
Dryve University
Redvy University
Veryd University
any of these might work
