Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Anyone Still active in Jones Farm? I am curious if the makerspace (Innovation Hub) is still there?

Folks:

Before I took VSP in April and disappeared up north, I spend a lot of time in the Innovation Hub at the Jones Farm Conference Center. It was the internal maker space.

Does anyone know if it's still there? Do they still meet up on Mondays like they were doing back in the spring when I left?

Just curous

Makers is complete BS. On the surface the company promotes it, in the back they give zero real support to it, even pulling plugs. More empty talk from the company that's just for publicity stunts only.

Exactly.

The internet of sh!t is just a rebranding of low cost embedded computing. Qualcomm beat Intel to the punch by buying NXP.

I suppose Intel could buy TXN but they have too much hubris and NIH to do anything like that. They still believe they have a competitive advantage with x86. What a bunch of business illiterate simpletons.

I think the Maker Thing was yet another BK grasping-at-straws attempt to find the Next Big Thing. Did he really think everybody in the world was going to buy those (low margin) Quark and whatever else chips on those Galileo boards? Even with that fake 'reality' show, starring BK, supposedly building demand? Drones, maker boards, Mica, VR (most built by ARM/Qualcomm these days anyway), Basis watches, blue butterfly dresses etc etc -- did he think any of these were going to take the place of the PC monopoly of the past?

It's completely gone nowadays! They didn't even put the museum back. Sorry OP.

Sounds like a waste of time.

Anything good will NOT come out of a corporate 'hub' where people half-a-- something in their "spare time".

Driven individuals that pour their life into their visions are the ones that come out on top.
