Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Questions about layoffs

So many questions about these layoffs...

Are laid off American expats eligible for any kind of unemployment benefits in the US until they can find a new job?

What benefits are the laid off employees eligible for?

Can health insurance be extended into time after actual employment ends?

Is there a severance benefit specific to the ELP other than the standard Aramco severance payment?

Are there other benefits in the ELP not yet discussed?

Thanks to anyone with answers to these questions.

American citizens working for a foreign company are generally NOT eligible for unemployment benefit payments when laid off. You are only eligible if you work, or are paid, in a US state and pay regular unemployment insurance from your regular paychecks. You should see this deduction on your paychecks. If you were making some kind of insurance/tax payment then you need to contact the state labor department it was being paid to in order to determine any possible benefit.
