Do you think that our executives will make a decision to cut people in Irvine.

WD is no longer headquartered in Irvine
There is bound to be a need to further pace expenses with the transition of the storage industry from mobile and desktop to ssd and cloud.
Disagree. There are only few tech companies in OC. WDC has to compete for talents at NorCal thus costs much more.
Disagree with your perspective. There is such a shortage of real jobs in the storage industry, and such an abundant supply of available engineers, and an abundant supply of office as well as lab space, it will not be cost effective to keep another office in Irvine or elsewhere open for longer than needed.

Corporate is transitioning to Nor-Cal. When the Irvine lease is up they'll shutdown Irvine and complete the transition up north. Lease is up in 2020.
Plan just in case. Those who know the history of WDC for the last couple years know nobody is safe.
IMHO, I believe that at some point in the future (maybe 3 - 5 years from now) that WD will no longer be headquartered in Orange County.
