I know that people are concerned - don’t be - but I heard from someone pretty high up in our corporate office that they planned layoffs but that plan was abandoned, so we are safe here in Jacksonville.

CSX is the most unethical company of the Class 1 railroads. It's amazing every other class 1 is hiring and CSX has by last count over 700 employees furloughed in T/E and is still trying to reduce the headcount. It's amazing CSX has any customers left due to trains sitting instead of moving. CSX should remove transportation in its name. Actually should rename it to CSX hedge fund inc
PLEASE ...this isn't just Harrison...this is CSX Modus Operandi since 1998. This is at least the third time that they have cut jobs and given the same excuse. Reduce layers of management and streamline. This started in 2004 with the Organizational Effectiveness Initiative that reduced about the same number of jobs that this reduction did. CSX has been run by the most immoral and unethical people for most of the last 20 years. If you live in Jacksonville you likely know someone whos life was ruined by these grifters. Jacksonville should ask CSX to move its Corporate Headquarters somewhere else in response to their dishonest and unethical behavior.
@2vviy - I chuckled too. "We are safe now" hahaha - granted, the original poster wrote this 5 months ago, but any reasonable observer would tell you (even 5 months ago) that things are about to turn ugly

The layoffs have nothing to do with Obama or Trump, but rather GREED by a CEO Hunter Harrison and the Pershing Capital investment group that is taking over, reducing head count, possibly merging with Canadian Pacific Rail Road so they can squeeze some money out of it. They see some efficiencies that can be brought in to run it leaner and reap the profits for themselves. They don't care if people loose their jobs, their houses, their pensions and everything else that CSX has meant to people for the last 20 or 30 years.
