Not true.
It's official Market District is now owned by Krogers and the remaining Giant Eagle stores are now owned by Publix!
The didn't make up the revenue they needed to after the first round of reductions. Deal probably was contingent upon reversing some of the bleeding which is of course why you lay people off instead of making smarter retail decisions (along with real estate decisions, eh?). Keep watching, GetGo will be an independent brand within 24 months. They're making money. GE, who knows for sure. Who wants to buy those headaches? Kroger might for a bargain. Market District, the pet vanity project, can't deliver on sales per sq ft especially in Carmel where it is still viewed as novelty. Bad decision after bad decision with a crises of leadership. Too bad, there are a lot of good people there who will suffer in the end as those who were cut free have.

I work at corporate. Yes. Publix overpaid in a biding war, couldn't say no. Kroger purchased Market Distict brand. Won't be announced till spring.
