Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Layoffs have begun

The layoffs seem to be focused on the engineering side of Financial and Risk. This coming just weeks after all of Eikon's QA team was outsourced to Tech Mahindra... Engineering is just getting gutted. The Eikon platform is going to really suffer for this over the next year (or more).

There have been a smattering of layoffs in Legal Technology that I've heard of, but it seems like mostly like a manager here and there. There has been an announcement of a re-org in Legal Editorial announced a few days ago, and I've heard that some senior management positions may have been eliminated, but I don't know the full scope of that.

I've heard that 75% of the layoffs will be in F&R. I've also heard a rumor that 600 layoffs will occur in Eagan, but I'm not sure how credible that is. They also recently announced the closure of one of the Eagan parking lots, which takes on more sinister tones with the layoff announcements.

Nearly all F&R-related developers in San Francisco have also been let go. Confirmed some dev groups in Bangalore and Bangkok have been cut as well. They're reducing headcount across the board in F&R and Technology, not just in the higher-cost locations. Legal has also been hit with layoffs, though not to the same extent, it seems. There will soon be nobody left to properly support some critical applications in Production.

Entire Philly and Boston offices are being shut down. It sounds like Eikon Desktop isn't going to be actively developed anymore.
