We have layoffs all the time - it all depends how you are aligned and how is your geo doing. We also have many, many competing business units and geographies and some of them do not cooperate well.
So, our segments actively compete and this is not good for anyone - some capabilities are duplicated across BUs.
Finally, Cap is a good ole-boy network and you gotta be connected in order to play the game, you need to have networks, alliances, etc. Watch your back, there is a lot of backstabbing...
Finally, going back to my opening paragraph - get used to it, there will be layoffs, just be smart, stay on the project, try to avoid the bench, and you will be fine
