Broadcom is pretty decent during the layoff process, but also machine-like efficient. You'll be given three months notice (but they only expect you to actually be in the office for the first month or so), followed by 1 week/year of service + 4 weeks up to 8 or 9 weeks. Not the best, but not so bad either. You need to be in the office as little as possible; instead, be out there networking and interviewing. As always, your best chances are with former colleagues and bosses, rather than cold-calling job postings.
Good role in a company that believes in R&D. May be better work life balance.
