Thread regarding CVS layoffs

How do they lay you off? A call? Meeting with HR?

How does the actual act of communicating that you've been laid off from CVS happen?

Do they call you in a conference room? Who is there? What do they tell you? How long does it take?

I am extremely nervous, been with the company for 2 years and I am expecting to be laid off, most folks in my group are telling I will be good, but I have doubts.

Pharmacy supervisor for your district will call you up out of the blue and tell you that you're on the bump list. Approximately a week later you will be given minimal options and 24 hours to make a crucial decision. From my experience the choices are not good, usually involve a lot of travel and inconvenience. CVS is one cold-hearted bastard of a company.

It's not a rumor, I can confirm that layoffs happened in Irving, TX last week.

our department let go of quite a few people, half in house, half in the field, management came to each person's desk, took them into an office to go over terms (paid through Dec 31st with medical, severance after that) then they were walked out of the building, they have to make an appt. with HR to come clean out their personal belongings. I felt it was handled well at my location, obviously difficult to see friends lose their positions.

Your mgr and HR will be there

Its quick

No negotiation

Done deal

Severance is fair

Are they giving severance? Have been there more years then I'm going to admit. Since CVS bought out Caremark, it's gone down hill more each year. I would take a severance and run as fast as I can.

You are called into a meeting room with your boss, the tip-off is when you recognize the HR rep sitting there.

@uai thank you for sharing this, hope everything turned out right for you. I don't think I'm gonna be affected anytime soon, but I already started looking. This all sickens me.

They called me into a room with my manager and her manager. They acted slightly apologetic, but more like it was MY fault. I asked why my job had been on the block and they outright lied about my performance, skills, etc. I was expecting this and cited my proof of both, and their acknowledgement of both of these things (1 was a great performance review and 1 was my asking the manager to let me do more of x, y, z because they were short staffed and her refusing). I was there a year and a half and they dragged my "firing" out from November through April. My manager later lied and said my job was saved. I went to the top manager of the department to get answers, because I had just received a great job offer. I found out they planned to walk me out a week and a half later. My manager was supposed to tell me months prior, and she never did. Management is full of liars and back stabbers. Even if you're safe today, I would look for a new job.
