Thread regarding Frontier Communications Corp. layoffs

1000 layoffs - are folks Unionized

This is random but wanted to ask here (I work for the competitor) - have you guys organized and is there an Union present who can protect workers from the abuse including deep cuts while the executives keep collecting multi-million dollar bonuses from quarter to quarter. This is not only Frontier layoff problem - it's rampant and affects us all.

Good luck and god bless.

One of their TX V.P.'s literally has no degree and is riding around in 2 GTR's, vacationing with the higher ups and spending money like its water while they hand out slips to hard working individuals. It's all in who you know there.

I was from the Ohio retention center and were one of the first centers let go. It's sad cause they had just hired about 200 new people to help with retention and then let them all go and gave them nothing. I will never feel remorse for that company if it goes bottom up. I know it's horrible to say that but I have nothing for hatred for that company. Upper management is nothing but a joke. They knew what was coming and did absolutely nothing to try and keep our jobs.

I lost my job in Indiana as a supervisor last December as well. While I may be unhappy for me and the rest of the 1,000 others, I still have compassion for the remaining employees. There is another big round going on as we speak July 2017. I am personally aware of about 25 in Indiana where the union jobs are being shifted away from the existing Frontier teams to the newly hired Verizon teams because of the merger. While it sounds to the outside world as synergy (reduce where overlap exists) the new positions were generally brand-new people hired after or during the sale. So new not as experienced people doing the work but instead just meeting the legal requirements for the purchase. The Frontier upper management has failed the investors and the employees! Too bad the purchase couldn’t have been reversed the very first day when it was immediately obvious that the cut was a failure. I do see the slow demise of this company, looks like another large company that will be completely redesigned.

The wicked axe fell on a lot of folks this week in North Carolina management and ISP's offered to craft. This is about the dumbest company ever and the sorriest for the way they treat their employees. Absolutely no respect nor passion for a fellow human being. I hope they crash and burn!!!!!!!

I was one of the mangers that got the ax. 35+ years of dedication, long days , and great techs that were shocked I was let go. They all went into my boss's office to complain..

I am glad to be gone as the company slowly crashes and burns.

Oregon and Washington craft employees were just given retirement ISP offers. We are going to be wiped out. I have worked my a-- off for GTE Verizon and Frontier for 19 years after contracting for 10 years and will now be fugged for my hard work. I hope this company goes broke as they screw their employees and customers. I apologize to all of our customers for our incompetent upper managements actions. I tried to give you the best service I could. I can't believe this is happening.

no it is across the board and before the 1000 that got laid off they fired 250 managers. I know I worked there right up till a few days ago.

Looks like Frontier is finally getting rid of the excess management that Verizon thought they needed . A lot of these managers were worthless and power hungry bullies . I say good for us employees that really do work and want to see growth in the company . Maybe a second cut will come around and get rid of some of the bad managers that dodged the cut .

So as far as I know there is a no layoff clause for cwa but not ibew. Most of the cuts are call centers which are garbage to begin with its possibly because of training maybe. Still s---s so many people are being let go. I'm out of California and from what I've been told were good. But managers have been let go. I love my job an I good at it but if layoffs come for techs low seniority go first even if your a top tech. My manager was spared. No one deserves to be laid off especially this time of year. 😧😦. If frontier was ready when they took over we would have not lost so many customer and maybe one would lose there job. They have no idea what fios is capable of. I've worked everywhere and this is by far the best Internet out here. Charter s---s max speed in there area is 60 . spectrum/time Warner you won't get what u pay for like true 100 Meg or 300 meg and att is flat out garbage I wish customers would just gives us another chance because things are working much better now. If frontier would have to kept the same software we would be booming right now.

In California I know of 10 first and second levels in management that just got their walking papers today. Some got walked out by security today and some will be leaving at the end of the month. There are a couple second level management that got busted down to first levels. But as a hourly we have a no layoff clause until 2019 that was negotiated into our contract when frontier took over. So hopefully hourly will be safe until the contract ends and frontier figures out how to run a business by then.

My boss and 5 others are being given the boot tomorrow at noon. I have been told all are first level management. The process to layoff union, craft employees takes longer than the days left in this month, as the company is forced to follow a process laid out in the contract.

My family was affected by this layoff. Seems most of the employees at the Marion Ohio call center are being let go. Most of them union. I'm curious to see how the union will help these employees during this time. I doubt very seriously that they will do anything. Severance packages are availible but the information regarding both has been somewhat murky but considering the announcement was just made I'm sure in the coming days things will become clearer.
