Anyone know if Staples rehires former employees who were laid off and paid a severance.

Staples is a crappy company and this (temporary) situation with the SDOs is just an attempt by execs to cover their screwup. As soon as they find a way to make semi-reliable deliveries via a 3rd party they will close out the re-opened SDOs.

There is no reason to go back to them, unless you enjoy being ravaged n the rear end with no lube.

The execs know the company is dying, it is all about a controlled crash while the execs keep making as much money as they can at the expense of the average employee.

STAPLES FOR LIFE,,,,,

This guy is a liar, I also worked in So Cal location I received a phone call asking if I was interested in returning, to my satisfaction I politely declined the offer not before asking where would I start and benefits. I was told I would keep my seniority but my pay would start back to entry. So this guy is a liar, not to mention an idiot for going back. Hopefully the next kick in your rear out the door will knock some sense into next time..

I am a former g.m. that was making over 70 when they closed my store. After my severance was up they offered me a store at 45,000. What a joke. Went to work for another company making in the 80s working less with less stress. My store closing is the best thing that has happened to me professionally. If you are thinking about going back don't! There are much better companies out there!

"Staples for life!!!!!!"

Until they close your SDO and try to go 3rd party again. Once they have a plan to save $$$ they won't let it go. They'll keep looking for a carrier in your area to take over. All that money they spend on your SDO would be put to better use as executive bonuses.

Wow, why would anyone even consider going back, seriously where's your pride man. NO self respect, you go back just to be kicked in the teeth again. Wow, some guys seriously need help...

Staples does this all the time. Not to mention that my district manager seeks out the former employe, happens all the time. I really don't know why anyone would go back. There's so much better out there.

When the lead positions in the FCs where eliminated several months ago, those who got severance were told they could reapply after a certain time period to be regular associates. If they did so within 6 months and were rehired they would retain their seniority.

I don't know if this applies anywhere else. And I don't know of anyone who has reapplied.

Friend applied had a interview and was not selected. I honestly believe most companies shy away from rehiring former employees who were laid off and paid a severance.

It's happened but not sure why someone would put themselves through that. Take your severance and run. Even if you liked working there and were treated fairly, it's not a company that's on stable financial footing at the moment.

I do not think there is any policy against rehiring those that were laid off. However whether they do or not depends on how you were perceived. They may grant you a courtesy interview, and then not extend an offer because they think you may hold a grudge and be disgruntled, etc.

Also, I believe you would also forfeit any seniority and start as a day one employee as far as PTO and benefits and vulnerable for further layoffs.

Why would you want to go back? This company is in a downward spiral and treats people like sh--.

I hope you find success looking elsewhere, it is sad to see someone desperate enough to take more of Staples' abuse.

Looking at my separation docs, nothing about not being able to be re-hired
