"Have they been reduced due to the stores going away?"
Hopefully, yes. There are many positions that need to start being cut back as the number of stores is reduced.
There should have been a large layoff in October, but there is no word. Staples likes to keep these layoffs under the radar but you figure those affected would speak up on this board or social media.
I would expect January and February to be very interesting going into 2017. Last year they cut about 500 people, just under the amount that would cause them to have to disclose the layoff to the Dept. of Labor.
With 50 additional stores closing this year and more slated for 2017, they need to get rid of some of that dead weight at corp and regional offices. Project managers, inventory flow analysts, blackbelts, DMs and RVPs should all be on the hit list. If the number of SVPs can be cut in half, the number of RVPs and DMs should be cut by a third.
Framingham needs to stop cutting store payroll and expected them to meet ridiculous sales goals and tasking. When you have 1 cashier on, 1 PMS and either a tech or an OS (never both at the same time) it is impossible to assist each customer and drive conversion and DPT.
