We had a fire in the campus cafeteria yesterday. After the commotion subsided, I overheard two senior directors chat about upcoming cuts in staff. Yea, we are in for another round of layoffs. Just in time for the holidays and new year...

Wasnt a cafe fire. An employee had a lit candle in the office something happened and the chair caught on fire. Building was closed off all week.
Ok, mate.
There are further redundancies coming.
Management was discussing the need to execute in sales and had a brief sidebar regarding issues in Marketing. They thought headcount reduction in order management this past summer helped, but we will have to cut further to the bone. The Intel mothership has directed WR execs to minimize impacts to the Canadian and Chinese Engineering Centres. They also discussed potential cuts In commissions to TAMs and FAEs. There will be reductions to support functions such as finance.
Bottom line is, unless we become profitable, Intel will stop using a scalpel and start using a chainsaw.
Does that help, mate? Hope you aren't one of those blokes hanging on waiting for a juicy severance package because those are coming to an end, as well.
Cheers
What precisely did you hear the senior directors saying regarding upcoming cuts in staff?
Details about the fire? Upcoming redundancy? Poor behaviour of our colleagues?
Please be more specific, mate.
Details?
