My daughter was offered guaranteed security work for 1 week starting on the 18th December, Amazon need female security staff to do searches. Her first shift started at 6pm at 4am on the 19th all the security that had been brought in specially was told that at the end of the shift there would be no more work. Not only were the security staff layerd off, but all the agency workers too. A company of this size should not play god with people's lives, my daughter had to have accommodation for the 5 days that she was to be working and it was paid in advance, so now the work that she has done, won't cover the cost of the accommodation she has paid for.

Sweatshop labor is what that sounds like. Sounds like the old days before labor laws in the lumber mill operations. You guys should read about that.
RUN..Starts with no interview they just give you the job..That should have been the fist sign.Thanks for the couple months of work. Left my job of 5 years, to work for Amazon, I was proud to work for what I thought was a great job, just to be let go after a couple of months. Disappointing.. They told me I was doing a great job hitting my numbers. Then the let me go the next day. Oh you get 30 mins lunch, 10 mins to park your machine, walk to the front, punch out, go through security. You then sit for 10mins then go back so you were not late getting back to work. They told us not to use the restroom it will stop us from hitting our numbers, so we did not drink anything all day so we did not have to go to the restroom. EEOC may have their eye on them. Hey also very insulting to have contests for hitting numbers when we are busy working. Managers call people up daily to let them go. Started with a large group of people and after a couple of months there just a couple left.I don't understand, you work hard, your get to work early, you hit your numbers, they let you go. Thanks now I'm out of work.
My son was just laid off after working a short time. He did fork lift work and handling packages. Shame on them for hiring a month or two before Christmas just to lay those people off.
