Yes I've heard be grateful you have a job as well. I always said, you can let me go anytime, i will survive. They just look at me.
I have seen people who where there 15, 20+ years treated badly but many just took the abuse
for the following reasons.
- Many were 50+ and they know how hard it is for anyone 50+ to find a job in the current job
market.
- Many people 50+ are trying to hang in until age 59 1/2 when they can tap their 401K tax free
Even though they rather try and make it till age 62yr and take early Social security.
The line from Mangers which really got my coworkers and I very angry was, be grateful you still
have a job. Yes I am grateful I have a job were my workload has double due to layoffs
My salary increase over the last few years if I get one is 1% to 1.5%
I can only hope to get laid off, but im making a change anyways. The treatment of not just myself but the way i have seen others spoken to is appalling. I have done all i can to defend myself and speak up for myself, but now is the time i have to cut my losses and move on. To be there for 10+ years , and being treated like i am beneath others is no longer something i want in my life. I have more pride and respect for myself to no longer be treated like this.
@This website kills me
No doubt you are a company brown nose , protected by some Boss at SST
This website kills me. Tough to take anything on it with anything but skepticism. The exaggerations and spelling/grammatical errors alone are enough to believe that State Street got rid of you for not being able to write a coherent e-mail.
I feel bad for you all for I too have experienced the stress you are feeling today. You are absolutely right in saying that it is quite disgraceful to do this during the holiday season but State Street is not a class-act organisation (and never was) even though they like to brand themselves that way. It may not be comforting but remember, if you don't get the axe this time, you will get it eventually. State Street has no intention of investing in you and is building an extremely productive and cost effective workforce in other parts of the world allowing for young, super-skilled college graduates to do your same job at about 1/5th the cost. For those of you who are shareholders of the company, you are probably secretely in agreement with the strategy. For those of you who are 'lucky' enough to not get layed-off this year, i would suggest you don't ask for sympathy next year when you are blogging here again looking to the rumour mill for news about your future because this is how it will be until the end. Time to move on!
How many. Dooms day today from what I'm hearing
It's already started in the Adams building
