Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

Layoff guiding principles for any BU

If a group is not slated to bring in significant revenue say until 2-3 years later what are the chances of the group surviving under HT for that long even if design wins may look promising (this is a sub 50 mil projected revenue for a group of 30-40 folks)

Chime in please

Hock always jokes about the "line of death" but I suspect there is some truth behind the joke. I think if your BU is below LOD - even briefly - there will definitely be layoffs. If your BU is below LOD for an extended period the BU will be sold or layed off.

Just my guess but it seems pretty clear Hock will continue to push cost-cutting. Getting rid of free soda doesn't save much money, they've got to reduce headcount.

Not sure if Hock believes in what is going to happen after 3 years. I have heard him giving 1.5 years for turnaround etc.

It's a hard call. That being said, I'm in a similar boat and am staying.

America is a 1st derivative nation. Same with Hock Tan :) If it is 50mil this year, 100mil next year, 200mil the year after. Even Hock Tan doesn't take you, Silverlake will.

If it is 50mil each year for 30-40 folks for the next 10 years, then it looks grim.
