@K9JSyWT-6waf, with the profound damage done to the Devry name, what makes you believe you can enroll students who are prepared? Is that what your target demographic is?
From the report it sounds like Devry's strategic moves are slowly turning things around. Maybe with enough cost containment, they can get the ratios right, while improving the student population (reduce the number of non-prepared, not-ready students). Only allow in students who are in the upper GPA end of their grad classes, and focus on those. Then the program reputation will continue to improve, as will the quality of future applicants. Is this the course they are maintaining?
The positive earnings could be helped a lot by cost savings. There were practically no raises this year despite the backbreaking workloads that we've all been saddled with. So DeVry is getting a lot of extra work out of us without paying us extra. That's gotta be helping the bottom line, right?
With classes not as packed & doubled up, it actually should be better than ever. Also, shorter lines to get your supplies, see the financial aide folks, meet with the teachers. And no more looking all crazy for a place to park. So it could be considered the best time to go there.
Nobody can spin earnings reports like Devry Education Group! With almost all divisions having lower enrollment they continue to report positive earnings. Judging by the lack of bump in the stock no one really believes the positive results.
DeVry University
Undergraduate – September Session
2016 2015
New students 3,432 4,006 -14.3%
Total students 24,540 31,843 -22.9%
Graduate – September Session
Coursetakers (3) 10,146 12,937 -21.6%
3) The term “coursetaker” refers to the number of courses taken by a student. Thus one student taking two courses equals two coursetakers
Sorry for sending the previous SEC report. Carrington, Devry University, and Devry Medical enrollment down. Cash down about $250M.
