Thread regarding Marathon Oil Corp. layoffs

Morale Questions

What percentage of the staff is actively looking for a new job outside? How likely those prospects? When is the best logical exit date?

I am weighing toss out my fishing line and advice would be appreciated.

You aren't going to find a better company than MRO.

I'm actively seeking, but looks bleak. No place is willing to accept my whinny a-- and listen to me protest when I don't get my way. What is wrong with this country. I deserve a ribbon for just showing up. This what makes us stronger together.

Winning does mean something when you are in a group with Oxy and EOG. Two premiere companies with respected leadership, consistency and respect This is important to millennials. Stay at Marathon if you think it's great someone has to work there.

Winning best place to work means nothing. People at apc are bailing out like rats on a sinking ship.

Yet another technical resource just quit. There are jobs out there if you have skills. Nope, you don't have put up with a hostile work environment. I've been busy under Bob's desk so no worries for me. Be a FOB and MRO is wonderful.

Really, better at what? In what category is MRO be in the top quartile? They do have the most generous vacation policy in the industry.

Job prospects are slim and virtually non-existent if you are over 45 :-(

I'd start tossing my line now. If you haven't interviewed in a while, this will be good practice. Most companies are not in hiring mode in Q4. Other person was right about bonus and RSU, that is if you believe we are getting bonus this year. Otherwise see about trying to negotiate some $ at the hiring company to offset what you would lose leaving before march.

Tour the person that said there is no better than Marathon, hopefully you are joking. There is always something better, just depends what your current situation is that is making you want to leave. Marathon has never won best place to work, so clearly is not the best.

From what I've seen - and from the confidence results of the survey - at least half of the people are looking. The prospects are slim but improving.

I think the general wisdom is to stay until March when the bonus should hit and the restricted stock from last year vests.
