Thread regarding FMC Technologies Inc. layoffs

Restructuring imperative

Subsea services will be reducing headcount around 10% or so in the following departments: quality, finance, planning, HR/support, HSE, IT, communications, procurement, logistics and supply chain.

Good luck everyone and God bless.

I don't know, but gears sure does seem gloomy these days. I wish someone would give us some clear information. I'm exhausted from the suspense.

If you read it carefully the needed reductions are actually 15-20%. It said "only" 10% cost reduction has been achieved so far in support services, but this needs to align with the 25-30% reduction the in sales. Very tricky way to confuse the actual target. But I can do math.

The termination and replacement procedures going on in Erie solidify the attitude FMC has toward their dedicated and hard working employees. The ones responsible for shipping 100's of millions out of the plant year after year when the business climate was good have been scrapped. In the eyes of FMC people and talent are replaceable, no different than any piece factory equipment.

Why not just say ALL departments, at least they are hiring like crazy in Erie, on the down low though, they don't want the previous employees applying to anything.
