Thread regarding McKesson Corp. layoffs

Does severance end when I get another job?

Once severance payouts start, will they end if I get a new job?

You continue to get your severance if you get another job or not, unless it is with McKesson. Personally, it worked out very well for me. Despite their shortcomings, McKesson does a pretty good job with severances. No, they don't give it in a lump sum, but they are consistent and HR does a good job setting things up.

NO. And, you're eligible for unemployment (which you've paid for already). Take your options and if you're smart consider hiring an attorney for class action. This leaking of emails pre-termination is illegal.

Hear McKesson gives good serverance packages. 2 months serverance by default and 2 more weeks for every year of service at mckesson. Is that true?

You only lose severance if you are hired back by McKesson before it ends. With regards to unemployment, you should be able to get that while you are receiving severance since you are not working. This is how it works in CA.

My understanding is, severance DOES end when you secure new employment. I read the terms from my coworker who was cut in March. Of course, it depends what the terms are this time around. I would suggest getting severance as long as possible then apply for unemployment. Depends how long McK covers your insurance through. Gaps in employment look bad on a resume too

you can apply for unemployment once all your severance has been paid to you.

At what point can you apply for unemployment? Never done this before...

No, it does not end when you get another job. And it will not be paid out in one lump sum. It will be paid on the same schedule as your paycheck.

You mean they don't give it to you in one lump sum? That's disappointing.
