The layoffs in Mid-October 2016 was reportedly between 2000-3000 employees, and only refers to Dell / EMC employees. I wonder how much larger the actual is when the layoffs within VMware are included as well.

VP guy VNR for short at EMC DD called for a layoff to happen between 3 to 6 months out during a QA session today. coincide with either Dell's end of Q4 or Q1. some questions about attrition and their replacement of the vacancies coming from China/India. he gave us the merry go round and the middle finger answers.
This week is the last of Dell's fiscal quarter. I think that's significant.
The 2000-3000 number was from a Bloomberg article quoting an anonymous source. The did get confirmation from Dell EMC that there would be layoffs but Dell EMC declined to give a number. Two weeks ago Dell EMC again confirmed, via email to CRN that there would be layoffs but that the number "wasn't material". Layoffs haven't started yet except for Cork.
