Get ready for less gm's

Rumor mill is cranking again. Recent news has the elimination of many gm's in 2017. Staples is going to experiment with a multi unit gm position. 1 gm running multiple stores. Truth is, it will work, unfortunately most likely the a-- kissing gm's will be kept, and hard working ones let go. Choices will be most likely based on who dm's like verse who is actually productive.

I believe this is the organization currently place in Staples UK and some North American test markets.

Stores in my area have several keyholder/supervisor vacancies. Working conditions, and chances is store closures vs. pay and advancement opportunities make the positions unattractive.

Pulling GMs out to cover multiple stores would just cause more havok.

I know this was tried once in Marion and laporte IN years ago and it did not work out so well

I doubt very much that will happen. You have so many stores now short Am's Sm and tech sups. So I can't see how a Gm can cover two stores without help.

This has been talked about for over a year. It might work and I certainly hope all the assistants get a raise due to the fact they will be running the show everyday. Not the floating GM. Good luck!!
