@JuBjoOy-1lnf just don't get L4/L5 or IR at focal, but of course HR dives into any negative message to URM and open door makes Management very very sensitive. Keep up that attitude that will really build the right view of the URM from the rest of them hardworking folks, LOL
I've developed quite a business during my time at Intel selling "substances" to tired worn out intel workers. Job security baby!
Tranny here who uses opposite sεx restroom at work, BK has ensured I'm golden girl boy until he's fired. I'm not worried....at the moment.
URM/RCG here, nothing to worry about as I am set for at least a few years thanks to BK.
I am Indian Muslim in Malaysia. There is no way Intel will ever layoff me. The only way for me to leave Intel is for me to quit myself.
So conclusion, there is no need of a plan B.
Guys guys don't set your hopes too high that next year's pkgs will be as good as this one. Could be just 1-2 months pay. It was already implied in the stern emails sent to VSPers. Myself, was able to walk with more than a year's pay.
No package for all you klingons.
I have plan B, C, D ...and plans of all the other remaining letters of alphabets 😂😎😋. Which one I take depends on my mood and life circumstances at the time. Working at Intel is just a career phase, a job. My happiness, enjoyment and love of life is not determined by Intel. My job prospects outside Intel are very good (in fact better) ... I am not worried finding work, chosing company will be the difficult part. Hopefully I can travel for 2-3 months before settling into another job. 😍😘 ❤ #lovinglife
Great summary by -1edk! My personal story mirrors his concerning the surprise layoff. Also agree about the state of Intel business and the "few" jobs that will remain when all is said and done. I would also recommend perhaps beginning to look at a new career path while still working. Chip technology in Intel is going the way of the dinosaur and may not be there in the next few years.
As one who got a surprised kick to the door with my first L4 in 20+ years here is my advice.
Well for sure ACT2 and ACT3 are just around the corner for 2017 and 2018. As a student of the business it was clear to me that Intel's position was precarious. I had a great view of how things were going and it wasn't pretty, we just squeaked in in the past few generations, but the tide is ugly with TSMC and others now Intels equal and the x86 less than compelling. Server/Cloud is the only growth spot but that simply can't support 80K and the crazy monopoly like structure Intel has. The new thrusts are all in very competitive markets that won't support intel structure.
As the other poster said, you can retire, than you keep collecting til the lights get turned off on your career. If you got to work to feed the family and put them thru school, don't bet on packages like the last one. Also consider that when Intel cuts another 20K in Act2 you'll be competing with your peers for a few jobs out there, the package likely won't keep you afloat long enough to keep things going. ADVICE Start looking, get the bird in the hand and leave before the $hit hits the fan! For me personally was lucky but still had to relocate for my next gig.
To me, those that need a job should probably find one while still employed as it's easier on you for one, and you look better to potential employers for another. Not to mention the fact you don't want to be competing for the same job with a lot of others all leaving Intel at the same time during an ACT.
Those that don't need a job (and don't want one) should hold tight and wait for a package.
