Wondering what the email from Lisa was really about today ........

BAHHAHAAHA Devry transfer credits from ITT.... just like they did for those Westwood College students.... you're all crazy... you're crazy......
Far be it for me to defend DeVry, but their claim puts the GI Bill funds into the 85% category. So it's still PR BS, but not as bad as you think. If anything, this might make it even harder to get that 15% of non-federal revenue.
Think about it ...Devry is about to be one of the few schools that will transfer credits for all the Vets that were using the GI Bill at ITT (Veterans need to transfer and don't get back the funds like students who will have student loans forgiven).
Estimates are anywhere between 7,000-10,000 (20-25%) ITT students were using GI Bill funds, which don't count for the 90/10 rule. Pretty strategic PR bullshit if you ask me!
What's funny about this is that Devry is celebrating a 5% reduction from 90% to 85%, while the FTC is suing them over a 90% job placement rate.
I am pretty sure the FTC would not be bringing a lawsuit if they thought the job placement rate was 85%. They probably think it's MUCH lower.
A real offer would have been 15% federal funding and 85% other forms of funding. DeVry is still a socialist organization.
If Lisa really wanted to make a statement, she'd suggest risk sharing. Until the schools have more skin in the game in back-end outcomes, little will likely change.
85% or 90% or 80% does it really matter? The bulk of the revenue is taxpayer funded.
What's difference between 85% and 90%? Really none. It didn't cost much to offer this, so it can only help.
Personally, I believe it's a desperate attempt to make it look like we're trying to fix the problems with for-profit education so the Dept of Ed will go easy on us. It's an effort to keep us from ending up like ITT. If we can convince the feds that we're on their side, maybe they'll have mercy and stop hounding us to do the right things all the time.
