There are some seriously bad practices being done by some of the managers, they use intimidation/punishment tactics on employees trying to establish fear based culture. I think it's time for HR leadership to wake up, start talking to actual employees and stop this malicious behavior once and for all.

SAP new HR goal is to deliberately discriminate against non-Muslim, straight, white men (unless they have "transitioned" from being a woman). Everyday, we get the diversity bullcrap pushed on us. If you are a Christian who affirms that homosexuality and g-- marriage are bad, but you STILL not discriminate in hiring or the way you treat g--s and le---ans, you are made to feel like you are not a team player and not a good person. The constant push for women in leadership is condescending to men who have worked their asses off for promotion, only to see women be advanced on the basis of being a woman. It is also condescending to women in general. My manager, a woman, worked her a-- off for years long before SAP acquired and integrated our company in 2015. She got where she got because she worked hard, learned, and executed her tasks-- not because of some quota system or corporate virtue signaling based agenda. We had Muslims, Christians, irreligious, whites, blacks, asians, hispanics, etc -- all working together in an admittedly liberal-progressive environment long before SAP bought us. But we did not have the PC political correctness and constant virtue signaling until SAP pushed it on us. I resent it and am looking elsewhere. Contrary to HR's apparent position, it is OK to be a straight, conservative, evangelical Christian, pro-life, pro-traditional marriage, white male. Just not if you want to be promoted or celebrated. In the meantime, I await mid-management's next offensive mockery of Jesus and the Last Supper. (true story!). Nothing of significance happened to that manager. What if she had maliciously depicted Muhammed? One can only wonder....
HR role is to advise the managers on how to get away with letting go of people not in their inner circle. End of story. Its the same everywhere, its just ridiculously pronounced now.
Find me one company where HR behaves differently, ultimately the whole group exists to help the executives manage human resources, not to help human resources but to MANAGE human resources. Therefore, your expectations that they should be helping the worker are OK only if that also serves the primary purpose of the group: TO MANAGE HUMAN RESOURCES.
To the best of my knowledge, the acronym 'HR' stands for 'Hopelessly Retarded'! As far as I can tell, my principle HR contact was highly skilled in yoga ... but not much else. She attended the free classes offered at SAP on a fairly consistent basis. When I complained about harassment and bullying on my team, she got rid of me. SAP is the worst company on the face of the earth! Stay the hell away from this place!
I am a manager at SAP and unfortunately, that is the way things go. Us poor middle managers need the cash to fund our hobbies such as skiing and yachting. I have tried implementing fear tactics on 2 people in my team. One guy was really pissed and reported me to HR. I am a bit afraid of that guy as he seems to be outsmarting me. Another guy does no work for months and after each warning, he goes back to jackoff mode in 2 days. Now what can I do here? I made the wrong hire and now I am screwed. So not all middle managers are enjoying life at work.
100% agree. SAP HR is there to support management only, at all costs. We sit by and watch them receive award after award for basically improving nothing. The employee surveys are for show, as the same issues surface year after year. The SAP spin machine and PR engine is responsible for the positive press.
We'll the term tells you everything: "RESOURCES" - so we are all resources
Many companies are calling it "HUMAN CAPITAL" - that's even more explicit
It's because they also want to save their jobs, HR does not work for the interest of the employees it works for the interest of middle management who is clutching at their job by their bare bleeding nails! Are incompetent without fault, are spreadsheet monkeys and know how to show what the upper management wants to see. After all they are should be good at one thing and that's how to ride off other people's success so that they have something to talk about when the have their 1:1 with their manager! they want hard worker if yes sir employees not someone who's going upset the apple cart after all the poor manager has to pay for their kids private education expensive make believe lifestyle and fund a hobby which off course they have no interest in but something should make them feel they are interesting. But back to HR they are just that Human "Resources" you want to help you're job just offer the other cheek and don't forget to smile and thank in return!
BTW - there is a major meltdown on Oracle's board here - there are like 1000s of posts... I work there - our Hardware group got decimated in Aug/Sept, more cuts will come. Apps are fine for now but that's also soft as our pipeline is not doing well...
Good luck though...
That's corporate culture... it's like that no matter where you go...
