Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Current employee morale in sinking Fabs

I remember ten years ago when Intel kept successfully beating the competition to the next node and was ahead by 3-4 years. It was like a competition. After first silicon was completed, employees who actually contributed to this accomplishment were excited and extremely motivated to perform the next step to make the product better through cost reduction and yield improvement. Fabs running on all cylinders, good bonuses, great teamwork, high morale. Fast forward to the present. Competition has caught and passed Intel. Many more resources and $$$ now being expended to get to next node. Cost reduction and yield improvement projects almost worthless at this point since Intel is playing from behind. Morale is disintegrating at a rapid pace ad employees know their heads may be on the chopping block. It's like an athlete who owns the gold medal year after year, high expectations, and suddenly that athlete can't buy a medal.

Absolutely correct, -1aob! The fabs are bring run by shmucks. These glorified engineers, disguised as managers, may be good technically, but they severely lack the skills to become a successful mgr like budget planning, resource allocation, project mgmt, decision making. They s--- at just about every skill that defines a good mgr.

Yeah, the fabs are a mess. Nothing gets to be done. Bye bye Intel in a couple of years.

I am surprised Intel ever hired 30% of people I work with. Do 3 year contracts, no life welfare. Re interview every 3 years

Gone are the days the stock double with every new node, now stock is manipulated based on shell game while the core goes more and more rotten.
