COP - Why So Much Hate Toward Bville

I've been browsing the COP board and read all of the negative comments toward Bville. Many at COP mistakenly believe ALL of their problems will be solved by closing the Bville office and terminating those employees or transferring a few to Houston. There are a few real advantages to having satellite offices. When a hurricane was headed toward Houston +10 years ago, the executives and strategic managers relocated from Houston to the IC Bldg for a week and continued to run the business while the Houston office shut its doors. Second, with today's technology and improved communications, employees can be scattered worldwide and can network seamlessly. Third, Bville-based employees (which consist of plenty of Ponca City, Owasso and Tulsa residents) have a loyalty to COP that few people in Texas have since few employers in the northeastern Oklahoma offer the benefits and pay offered by COP. With all of that said, the laid off Bville employees of COP should monitor the P66 jobs postings. I was a COP employee who transferred to P66 within the past year and it was the best move I've ever made.

The prospects of one day transferring to Bartlesville is a dark cloud over the head of both P66 and COP employees. Bartlesville as a whole is quite hostile to the new employees of either company in addition.

If you've been around either P66 or COP for a while, you'll notice the strange obsession by some with bashing Bartlesville. Many of the most outspoken have never even stepped foot in the town. It's very odd that someone would care so much about a place they don't live and doesn't really impact them in any way. Some people just love to troll I guess.

Go read the COP site now. They are trashing the Phillips part of their name as if they were to drop that part of their name, they would be strong and successful!

Actually, there's not enough room in the new HQ to transfer many more. It was not built with an eye towards shutting down Bartlesville.

P66 just moved several groups from Bville to Houston and they plan on doing more in the future. It makes business sense to have a larger population of employees in a central location.
