Intel was once the envy of the silicon world, biggest, richest, growing and executing like a clock, Tick Tock. Arrogance and dummificarion set in and permeates across management and technical leaders and needs a big fix soon!
Now they see revenues drop, volumes plummet and execution slips. 14nm issues were well documented and now 10 and 7 are slipping as nothing was fixed at all. That isn't a technology problem it is a management problem! They now are slipping from their long vowed claim Moore's law is alive and clock work Tick Tock to Tick Tock Ops Late. Now we have four designs as things slip. This will impact cost, performance and cost. That explains the silent ACT.1 last year and ACT this year. With losses from security and all the other non revenue generating stuff growing and 10/7 slipping ACT1 and ACT2 are all but certain as other thread have noted 10k and 20k are almost a certainty! This isn't as I said a technology problem but a management problem and the BOD needs to fix it now!
Now in contrast to Intel, look at the ARMy they have Apple producing new chips schooling Intel on an inferior technology and their manufacturing partner TSMC growing and executing and they will catch Intel this year and pass them next year.
Management is the problem and needs to go as engineers aren't the problem here, nor is it a H1b problem. It is management failure and wholesale change is required, but sadly more layoffs are coming big ones!
