It's no more than posturing to fend of hostile buyers or cleaning up the register for an intended buyer. Either way, this little bubble could easily burst in an instant if pricing goes back down. Expect Micron to either sell or diminish in the next 4 years.
Once China gets up to speed with the 160 billion dollars it's government has invested in the memory sector, pricing will plummet and Micron will be out of the game for good. Well at least in the USA that is..... It's the ultimate play on the market really, spend more than any company (aside from Samsung) and eventually you will price your competitors out of the market.
I've heard from many sources that there will be another round of layoffs November ish, even possibly the closure of another technology node. Also with the last round of layoffs not looking as good on paper as hoped and attrition rates higher than planned, expect time in position to play a fairly large role in the next round. What that means is there will be some very unusual layoffs from the common sense perspective.
It's an important condition to understand when analyzing the employee relations perspective. When a company has low retention or high attrition it gives market investors the impression that the consensus is employees no longer think its a good place to work. This is especially true when there is a marked increase in attrition.
