Thread regarding McKesson Corp. layoffs

HR Survey

I just took a look at the HR survey sent to all the employees. Mostly questions are about satisfaction with your job and if you would recommend to a friend.

The survey has been outsourced to another company Aon Hewitt. According to the web this is a company that specializes in "human resources solutions and outsourcing services."

It seems obvious to me they are looking for some tangible evidence to have another layoff. An employee that does not offer the company a high score will be cut. Also by outsourcing the process, it provides legal cover for the management for any wrongdoing.

This sadly one of the most thinly veiled attempts I've ever seen to hide what is going on.

Surveys are used by leaders who have lost touch to the masses. They give back to these lost leaders the illusion that they know the people and feelings. Lost is the day, the business owners walked the floors and met folks, got their hands dirty with the workers.

You can't read statistics on your private jet or lake mansion and think 5 pages of data gets you in touch.

McKesson has been doing an all-company survey every other year for at least the past five years. It has nothing to do with the current climate. The responses are anonymous and the employee numbers are used to make sure you only take the survey once and also to rate engagement by department etc. I serve on the Employee Opinion Survey Committee so I can assure you that there is NO attempt, thinly veiled or orherwise, to use this particular survey as a tool for determining layoffs.

Sure it is anonymous, why else would you have to use your employee ID to take it. People sit around praying for a package at this point.

How the hell do they expect EIS employees to "be engaged" and "business as usual" when McKesson has made it plain they no longer want us.

Well, duh. They couldn't have figured that out beforehand? What a bunch of disengaged idiot executives.

The word that came down I heard was the last rounds of layoffs spooked too many and good people are leaving now. Management is worried about retaining people at this point. They have lost a lot of good talent and may be realizing their actions cut too deep. People want to keep their job but if in the backs of their heads is fear of a layoff, they become disinterested, disengaged, and the whole thing becomes not worth it. So they find another job. Good job guys...

the best was the engagement survey last year, you could see the aggregate results for your BU.. one group showed some level of disengagement in >50% employee responses.

Actually Aon Hewitt is who administers our health benefits program and has done so for many many years. Smart, talented people who care more about McK employees than Mck senior ppl do. Go figure. They get paid A LOT to 'care'.

I don't know why they waste tens of thousands of dollars every year on this survey to begin with. They NEVER do anything constructive with it, ever. They just hold more meetings (like we need more pointless meetings) and make US hold our own focus groups and make US solve the problem. Eh em, the problem is you, senior leaders. Thanks guys for the listening ear and support! I hope you enjoy your money when you die. Wasted time. This is leadership? Please drop this word from your vocabulary, it's embarrassing for you.
