Gosh, Customer Service - now there's an approach we should try - seems like they want to revert back to what we were before we turned into a "corporate" entity and before we lost 90% of the employees that knew the product in their respective departments and could actually "help" customers instead those we're now hiring who grunt then point them in the general direction of the product (if they pass the drug test and stay for any length of time, that is)

I don't think 70 stores is spreading like wild fire...and did you mean, "end of an error"?
Nothing unique about walking around a building with hundreds of products that no one can show you and if they could they would not be able to tell you how to use it. I can go to Wal-Mart, Kohls,Home Depot or Lowe's if I want ZERO customer service or knowledgeable salespeople. Cabelas got greedy and threw away and forced out the people that didn't have to work but knew the products and to talk to talk to the people that could buy them. My last day is next week. The end of an error.
Cabela's USED to be a unique shopping experience.... up until they've start spreading stores like wildfire and using the Wal-Mart model. Get your facts right,
And how would anyone benefit from that (sliding into oblivion like Kmart, because I'm sure you didn't actually mean they are sliding into Kmart like oblivion)?
Cabela's is still a unique shopping experience...people still come from miles away to visit one of it's stores.
I'm getting REALLY tired of all the complaining...Have you ever heard the phrase, "no news is good news"? Just wait until there is some hard evidence of ANYTHING happening to the company.
I wrote a letter to the board two years ago telling them that people would start using CAB as a showroom and then buying online if they didn't begin to staff departments with KNOWLEDGEABLE Outfitters. It has only taken them two years to pull their collective heads out. I hope they slide into Kmart like oblivion.
Nice try! But too little, too late! Customer service at Cabela's has been going downhill for years! Employees who don't know products or where anything is at ! I expect that type of service at Walmart, not Cabela's! I haven't spent a dime at Cabela's in almost a year. The only reason I go there, so I can look at items for features and size. Then order online for cheaper!
People love shopping here
